    Rear Crank Seal change

    Hey all

I could swear I read recently a short guide as to how to change the rear crank seal from it's ally housing, but I can't find it anywhere! Anyone point me in the right direction or post a quick guide?

I've got one in it's housing, so I could just change the whole thing - does it need a gasket to fit it to the block? If so anyone got a PN to hand? Don't want to remove the old one until I know I've got all the parts for the job...

    Cheers,

Yup, there is a paper gasket between the mount and block. I found it easier to remove the mount and replace the seal out of the engine. AFAIK there is a fancy Audi tool for fitting the seals in the engine. Etka part number for the gasket is B 026 103 181B.

Should be easy with one in its housing. Just replace the gasket as written above by mcandmar.

Thanks guys! I was going to leave it, there was a tiny bit of weeping but nothing worrying on the engine. But then I found the one fitted to my old engine and it looked like new.

Anyway, took the old one off and comparing them it had visibly less rubber on it! All sorted now, just swapped them over took about 15 minutes Just need to wait for the replacement flywheel bolts and make a decision on the clutch, and the motor's ready for fitment
