    Old School

    Simple question.

Can you buy, "off the shelf", "ready to go", big valve/ported/gas flowed/etc cylinder heads for the ABY?

Used to do a lot with "old school2 motors (Mini's/Mk2'S/Celica's, etc) as probably did most of us here. At that the time Stage1/2/3 heads were popular and available for most cars - however, then came the turbo cars - and I couldn't afford them!

Are heads just not that important any more - can you just "up the boost and chip it" instead?

    Reason Im asking is this:-

Have this at the moment -

However, Im torn between an RS2 upgrade or an RS2+ type upgrade (say 350-400bhp), this all depends on costs, etc but im in no hurry; I will just buy a "bit" at a time and store it until ready - may take a year or two!.

As it would be a waste of time fitting all the new parts and not overhauling the now 141k mile cylinder head - whilst access available, do I just recondition or improve??

    Does that make sense??

PS. Im NOT old!!! Just 36!!

Only place I've ever seen sell one is 034 in america. The heads aren't exactly common, you can buy a 7A head have it converted to 7A spec then ported.

An RS2 upgrade is 350-380 bhp.

Head porting does make a difference but the stock head is good enough for anything you throw at it.
