2.2 10v Turbo - Engine Code MC - Whats Different to UR 10v Turbos

    Hi,

I realise this is an S2 forum, so would be predominantly for 20v engine but I'm sure some members on here will have the answers to my questions so bear with me.

While reading my "Audi Quattro Book - Buying, repairing and tuning" book I found out that the original UR engine was based on the 200 10v turbo engine and with the addition of an intercooler it gave the engine that 20-30 bhp more as the 200. This would have been at the start of the 80's so it would have been the old type 43 200's.

I have a 1990 Audi 100 10v Turbo, which has an engine code MC, and I believe that the later models had two knock sensors making the engine code MC-2.

Basically what I want is the power of a UR, so roughly 200 - 220 Bhp would be fine, and wondered if I could source original UR parts which parts would fit? I know that the MC engine is easily tunable after reading through the pages of the www.034motorsport.com website. However rather than spending a fortune on new turbos, manifolds, wastegate, injectors, intercoolers and EFI systems I rather keep my eye going for second hand parts if its possible.......

Anyone with any advice, comments, knowledge, could you please point me in the right direction?

    Thanks,
    Leigh

Much has been done with this engine in USA. THere is a great site, motorgeeks.com where there is much documented stuff of what can successfully be achieved.
If nothing else, it is another site to look at. HTH.

mc-1 and mc-2 engine are nearly identical....( same HP 165 also)
there are some eletronic device for the ignitions, and for the turbo boost...
there are some differet cams too( the old 86-88) have 276 dur cam, and the newer mc-2 have the 271 dur cam...
then i think the 1B engine came in 89( rare), then the classic 3B unit came in
you may rebuild a mc ,or a another engine to 20 v, but you need a spare engine to use the 20v parts...., but some want the 10v sound ( nice sound)

        Hi

Thanks for the heads up on the website, its REALLY good I posted a reply and got some feedback, so I've emailed a guy about a superchip and a harder wastegate spring, which should take me to 232 BHP, the kits are available at -http://gtquattro.com/GTQKITS.html

Heres the link to my thread if you fancy a read:

I used to play with 10v some years ago. Made mannies and stuff.

Original bottom end is superstout in MC, I have a couple of old customers, and some buddies with way over 500hp and stock rods.

          10V sounds a lot smoother than 20v.
