OK, had a rattle from the engine bay for a while and looks like it was the air filter housing, all the scews that held it in place were missing, whilst about there noticed this hose not connected, can anyone tell me where it should go to and probs from not having it plugged in (if it should be), I put the tape on the end just in case.
Where exactly do the other two hoses go to? looks like you have a T piece there, so where do the other two hoses go to? I'll have a look on mine a little later for you.
Thanks, hose running right from the taped piece goes into the side of the engine block, I think, cant really see and old uncle audi didn't exactly leave much room for getting my muckle paw in!!
You can see where the other runs to in the picture, he says not knowing if its the turbo or wastgate
nuts  right connected the vac hose that was taped up to the WGFV valve, the other one runs off from the t piece to the intake manifold.
Car runs fine but when the boost comes in the car judders like hell and wont play ball, dont get me wrong the car ran great before but just wondering if it would run better if connected up properly.
The S2 doesn't use the connection at the top of the wastegate as far as I remember. I know for sure ABY's don't and I think it's the same for 3Bs. That connection is a throw back to the old turbo engines.
Ben
Guess you submitted just before me Mark
the best intentions are fraught with disappointment - gil grissom
One less thing to worry about now I have to work out if my wastegate sprimg has been set back to a proper setting (after having a superchip fitted and removed by the last owner).
I'm wondering if that is why is see very short periods (1 sec) of boost up to 1.5 bar on a standard ABY
The vent cap on top of the WG should be open to atmosphere. There are some earlier UR variants which I *think* connected boost pressure to the wastegate cap in an effort to keep it closed longer but this is NOT the way of things on an S2.
Disconnect that tube on the WG cap and all attached tubing.
Mark's right - it looks wrong having the cap connected to nothing but it absolutely IS correct for an S2.
That small bore fabric covered vacuum hose ( there is only one on that side of the engine) should go to the bypass valve or dump valve, whatever you wish to call it. However looking at your photo it seems that some bright spark has disconnected it and in a fit of 'creative engineering' done god knows what to it, (I might be wrong) .
The hose 'should' connect to the BPV/DV, and to that only, this is just behind the headlight and is connected to the large hose in your photo. By the way it is important that this valve operates correctly as this recirculates boost pressure when lifting off of the throttle i.e. gear changes, and stops the compressor stalling.
Yep,
thats right, although it would probably be better to replace the whole hose for a new length, 4mm internal diameter, however thats assuming that I am right about your DV being disconnected.
Looking at you airbox I think you have an ABY?
If so, the hose connects to a piece of pipe at the front of the engine that goes behind the timing belt and connects via another short length of the same hose to the inlet manifold.
