Just got off the phone to the guys that are making clutch and grinding the flywheel and they have broken the rear pin for the crank sensor by accident....Not a problem to fix ..but I need to give him the measurement of how far out the pin sits from the face for the sensor...Does anyone have this?
Brillant .....have just spoke to him again and they have just snapped both of the front ones to ....doing really well here ...what measurement are they from the Face and are they as important (balancing?)
From memory the two on the front side are not used in an ABY/AAN application, only the rear pin and tooth ring are picked up by the sensors. Assuming your using a 7A/3B flywheel on an ABY?

The last time I measured my 3B timing pin it was 12mm long and 4mm diameter. Make sure you make it from a material that the timing sensor can pick up.
I'm sure some of you may remember Doug's S2 at Castle Combe last year, when Tom had trouble getting it to start. IIRC the local balancing man had broken the pin and replaced it with something non magnetic.

Good point ..I will pass this on ...out of interest does the pin need to be in the exact same place as before with regard the teeth?
The reason I ask this he mentioned they were struggling getting the pin out that broke (broke inside flywheel) so they might put the pin right beside it same distance from teeth so on .....the more I think about it ...If they do that it will affect the timing via crank sensor and hall sender?..True?...can the flywheel only go on one way with regard holes for the studs?
Yes the flywheel only goes on one way, and yes the pin has to go in the same place. Try drilling from the other side and use a pin punch to knock it out, or try spark erosion.
