    sorry i meant why 4361 instead of a 3076?

4367 is for much bigger power.

But even a 355 or 358 can achieve the same power as a 3076 and even more than that.

On the website i dont really understand the differences between the 4358 and 358 for example, other than 4inch inlet and bigger outlet,i dont understand the turbine housing differences that would allow one turbo to be advertised as 475hp max and the other 625hp max!!!

What about something with comparable power to RS2 (380 ish) but spool of stock k24 (<3000rpm) ? Is there anything in that region or is the ct 350 it?

What about bolt-in? Are these all kkk flanges for direct replacement on say RS2 EM and stock DP?Size wise, can you keep the OE airbox and do they foul the chassis rails like 3071 can?

350 is pretty close to rs2 turbo, although, rs2 KKK it pretty darn good turbo.

a80avant, I am sorry, if You are confused. It happens to all of us.

Doesn't garrett 2871 and 3071 have same compressor, and still push quite different peak numbers? So what is so confusing if some other brand behaves the same way?

Thanks. Have you got a link to any information on CT 350 please?

The next step on my car is either engine rebuild with rods, balance, lightened FW, stronger clutch or to fit a turbo on and de-tune it to run with a stock car for now. Option 1 is the sensible route, option 2 is more fun, both cost about the same, £2k.

that is why im asking,so that i can understand what is the difference that makes these 2 turbos so different, and in the end, allow me to make a better choise before i buy one!
            Is that wrong?

Since you have the most experience in these my question is : To whom would you reccomend the CT4358 instead of the CT358? I know that although the site has a power difference of 150hp between these 2 turbos but i have been told that the CT358 can push up to 590hp.So this is what i would like to know. What is the difference so that i would make a better choise

Why cannot You rely on the guy with experience, and have him tailor the turbo?

Why do YOU need to make the decision? Why cannot You just tell to the turbo maker what You want, and let him do his job without pushing enormous pressure with all the questions in the world?

Why do You have so many questions?

To get back to point, difference comes in when You have a cast EM or tube one, 3 or 3,5 inch downpipe, lots of room or no room for large air filter pipe, so lots of stuff

Difference is max flow of the turbo is a combination of turbine and compressor. Anyone with millions of questions should just rely the pros and have them do their work, or REALLY study and learn the advanced gas exchange theories regarding overboosting an ottoengine.

This is exactly what having a custom / hybrid turbo is about.

                    Who is that aimed at?

Wanting to understand what your £000s are going on is not a bad thing IMO, look at what has happened to Chris over the years by trusting people with experience... If what you are being told adds up to the same result as your own understanding and investigation leads you to expect then you will have a lot more trust and belief in the person giving the advice.

maybe its because when i used the method you suggest, meaning to RELY only to people who sell or have the experience to buy a turbo by telling them what you would like the car to make, ended up me getting the wrong turbo in the first place... that's why!!!

As far as you are concerned, why is so difficult for you to answer? You have used and seen these turbos yourself and a simple answer that eg. 4358 has this bigger size or that bigger AR etc would be enough.

I dont understand sometimes when people are so secreative as if you are being asked the most important questions in the world!!!!

I NEED to make this decision so that i wont have to blame YOU if in the future the car does not make the power it should. Think of it this way,it is SAFER for you as well.

I do not need to be persuaded if these turbos are good or not. I have already made my decision to buy one. However when we were discussing these turbos you were always up for me getting a CT355 instead of a GT3076R. now however you are choosing a CT4361 instead of a GT3076R. Hence why im asking these questions. WHat made YOU change your mind?

Sorry, for being a bit mischievous.
The problem is there are experts and so called experts.
The last lot of work that was done to my car was by a so called expert and you have seen the results. The company has a good reputation for some reason so why would someone not trust them? Their claim about what their super fantastic hybrid turbo could do has cost me dear which is well documented.
                          Cheers

I do kind of see the other side of the arguement though.
TUners spend many years building up experience through trial and error. They like to guard thier knowledge as this is what gives them the edge over competitors - knowledge is power and all that.
The good and honest ones fix their mistakes though, something I did not experience last time around. Repo has gone out of his way to help me, that is for sure and well documented.
So ultimately there is a fine line between trusting the people with experience and being shafted.

Well, first of all, You need to understand the name of the turbo really does not mean a thing.

When You want to have a custom turbo, You need to answer a lot of questions concerning the engine and the purpose of the car.

                                for example:

                                -displacement
                                -compressor ratio
                                -VE or naturally aspirated horsepower
-purpose: track, road, truck, boat, drag
                                -fuel
                                -nitrous or not
                                -camshafts / cam timing
                                -max revs
                                -horsepower goal
-other info, e.g. type of manifolds, other restrictions, like You cannot put a 0.75A/r 4" inlet compressor onto Wagner manifold

According to this information the components are selected. Generally the compressor wheel is chosen first, as it dictates the max power. Then You choose the other components to fit the rest of the setup.

So after this procedure, the name of the turbo is formed.

55 trim compressor, that's where the 55 comes from.
4 inch inlet comp housing, makes it a 4355
3b type ball bearing makes it a 43553b

It is completely wrong way to approach the matter in form of "oh I want a 43583b, here's my engine specs."

                                Does this make any sense?

e: Forgot to mention. A name system of CT does not take turbine wheel into consideration at all. So two 350's, other with stg3 wheel and other with stg5 wheel perform pretty different, still they both are 350's.

e2: why I am frustrated is that some people have bombarded me with these same quiestions over and over again. Some of them want to get something that cannot be done, some of them just keep asking without ever actually purchasing a thing. Some honestly appear not to understand even the basics, but still have millions of quiestions. This is why I might appear a bit sarcastic sometimes.

You really should take my seat and answer all the emails and IM's I get, You You coild share my point of view.
