Why do you want solid lifters? long term they are a pain unless your car is for track or very occasional use as you have to keep shimming them.

Anyhow speak to MRC, Doug can advise you.

Why on earth do You want such cams for such power?

Guessing he's making the point that you can make such power without using such cams, stock or RS2 are often used for big power.

One the 8,000rpm - you could get pretty close without going to solid lifters, but you'll be pushing on the door of valve float. I had a head built with 034 Motosport's high-rate valve springs and titanium retainers, with light-weight lifters and planned on pushing it to about 7,800 on the rev limiter.

Doug @ MRC - as Jamo said - is your man. He used soilid lifters from the diesel motor i believe, rev limited to 8,500rpm. Advice I was given is that they need to be checked regularly and expect to get them shimmed every couple of years on a daily driver.

You can rev up to 8000 with hydro lifters, the heavy ones, original retainers and valves, if using stiff springs.

Nevertheless, a properly set 500hp I5 gives peak power at 6500ish rpm, so absolutely no need for 8000rpm.

Also, You can hit 500hp pretty easily with original AAN/ABY cams. Harder profiles usually cause midrange power loss and rough idle, so there is no gain.

Only case I would think of going to solid lifters is, when You are driving on track, and need to get the turbo to breathe up, instead of pushing low end torque.
