I know this ia PITA but strip all the hoses off and inspect them when they're out, espacially where the clamps lie on the hoses, the turbo/maf hose is prone to go at the turbo end and you're never gonna see it unless you remove it, get some new clamps before you reassemble everything, if you don't wanna strip it , try and get a few bungs or a kit and do a leak test on those hoses before going further, once back together run it and post the vag-com output (it'll also show its nothele s/w variant)

What do you mean by this Eric? By the way, off topic, hows your Nothelle Coupe? Are you going to the NEC again or any other shows this year?

Also, in answer to a question I missed - it's running standard, recommended plugs (Bosch F5DP0R) and has had a couple of sets in over the years (10,000miles) of ownership.

Will book a few days off next week and check the hoses too, to make sure there's no leaks anywhere so I can do it thoroughly!

Get yourself a copy of the vag-com software or find somebody local that has and get them to check any errors that have been logged after giving the car a good run , this'll hopefully show up the problem you've been reporting and/or other problems once you've put the car back together, there'a a few basic tests in there as well which would give you a basic sanity check before going further, the software revision is also visible via vag-com, which in your case should be something like "Nothelle xx-xx-xx"
