    400hp on RS2

    Hello guys,

I have this project, wich consists of getting 400hp out of the original RS2 turbo. Already bought the Wagner EM for the RS2 and I´ll be flowing my head as soon as the EM gets here. I have a 3 inch no catalyst, no muffler exhaust. Bigger injectors and a good fuel management (Dastek´s unichip).
The question is quite simple, then: do you think I can reach 400hp using around 1.3 or 1.4bar in the original turbo with that setup? I have access to 95 oktane (ron+mon/2) gasoline, wich is quite good. Any thoughts or help will be much apreciated.

    Regards

You need to run 2 bar or over to get to 400 bhp on a rs2 turbo. The turbo will not last long at those boost levels fyi

Think he is talking about boost levels on the redline here. RS2 turbo could stretch to 2bar in the mid range, but not the redline.

Its well known that the RS2 turbo isn't really big enough for 400bhp on 2226cc - not on petrol anyway. I suspect that going to E85 and suitably big injectors might get there along with that big IC and nice free flowing zorst.

Thanks for your answers, guys! So you think 400hp is not possible with the original turbo, even if I flow the head and use the Wagner manifold?

I understand that 380hp seems to be the limit for the original RS2 turbo, that´s why I thought that maybe I could go to 400 with those flow betterments.

Also, at 2bar the original turbo is way out of its efficiency island, according to its graph. I´m also sure that running 1.8bar the turbo will die within days! My idea was to run 1.5bar, at maximum. Does anybody has any experience with improving the gas flow?

I know of 2 members on here that did approx 400 bhp with the RS2 running crazy boost levels. It didn't end well however ( Rod Banana )

maybe a slight port of the exhaust side may help anything more like cutt blades and its not really an rs2 turbo any longer in the true sense.

you will find the turbo is more of a bottleneck than the wagner.

think about how much work the turbo has to do. pressure levels may be slightly lower if yuol port and do it that way but the trubo is working just as hard to flow air to that level.

its a challenge alright but it may end in tears and a more costly route than straight to a 3071.
