5cyl engine camshaft query

A friend of mine recently bought an engine that was supposedly an ADU but found that the inlet camshaft had an inscription of 034 AM rather than AN that it is supposed to write.
also the camshaft pulley could not allign to have the mark one tooth back,but instead it was 2+teeth forward. He got hold of a genuine RS2 camshaft pulley and still that couldnt work.
now i understand that this may be because his camshafts may be different,but can anyone identify that one? 034 109 021 AM

The RS2 pulley does not line up to the mark it should be half a tooth behind the cam cover mark. All documented on the forum.

034 109 021 AM isn't in the FA, even in discontinued or superseded lists Vas.

Just learnt something too, I always thought both ADU cams were different, but seems it's only the exhaust.
I know, probably common knowledge in Audi tuning nursery, but then all this swapping around of cams for more power doesn't really float my boat, so I'll excuse myself.

Heh yeah only the exhaust is different the timing difference is because of the hall sensor disc being offset on the cam pulley.

however the AM letters were situated next to the 034 on the camshaft. So im not entirely sure if that means anything or if that AM was supposed to be at the end of the camshaft

i have a photo from him that shows the insctription: 034AM . If it was supposed to be AN,is that where it is written normally?

jamo, do you have a photo of the 7A inlet cam that shows how the part number is carved on the camshaft? Maybe that 'AM' is reffering to something else.... dont know... maybe it was an early morning batch of cams! hehe

i have a pair of rs2 cams on me spare bed the inlet can has 034 Am on it so i would say rs2 for sure well 99% any way

What a man does with a pair of RS2 camshafts on his spare bed, in the privacy of iz own home is a private matter....

AM suffix doesn't scan though.
