    Diesel block/crank weight

I know both the crank and block are heavier than the standard 7A/3B/ABY/whichever items, but by how much?

    Cheers!

      2.6 would mean 83mm pistons

        Maybe

Got the crank and block already, but won't be starting this for a little while yet. I'm just curious how much weight i'll be adding to the front.

The bore thing is another question for another thread but since I'm quite tempted to keep it NA maybe I could go a bit bigger?!? That'll make it lighter right?

depends on the block. 7a im sure will got to 84 or so. if its like a 16v anyway. its the small bore engines that have the limits.

i had my 9a bored to 83mm fitted scats and wiseco's that made 2008cc.

thats if the 7a is same as 6a/9a with anothe rpot.

Well I'm starting off with a 2.4 AAB block which I think is only 79mm bore or something. Assuming I can bore this out the same as I could the other 2.5 blocks to either 82.5 or 83 or whatever then I guess it would be the same as any 5 cyl petrol or diesel, comparable to what poeple have done on their ABYs or 3Bs.... if you get my gist?

Anyway, that's a bit off-topic. What about these weights?

EDIT: When I get home from work i'll see if I can measure the ones I have then compare those to standard weights... sure I can find those on the forum somewhere. Will post my findings.

AAB block? you want an AAT or AEL block.

Yeah I know, but from what I can find the blocks are basically identical apart from the bore. It does have squirters too.

Famous last words you maybe right

Even the AEL is different from the AAT and requires adaptation around the flywheel cranksensor.

The AAT block is best by far to use less hassle.

I wish I had but at the time that would have meant to O-ring the block with a copper gasket and I didn't want that so went 82mm with OEM head gasket.

Then my nemesis goes and makes OEM gaskets with 83mm bore

                            Maybe next rebuild
