aby fitting into type 85 cq

I have just recieved my aby engine and gearbox , but I dont have the ecu, wiring loom or the mounts for the gearbox. What do I need to fit it into a Type 85 cq. I have heard that a 3b wiring loom is good as it plugs straight into my fuse box? is that right? Is it the front subframe I need to change to mount the 6 speed gearbox? Is there anything else anyone can think of that I will need. I have the injector rail, the turbo, although i need a rebuild kit, the alternator, the ac pump, i am going to use my existing pas pump, so apart from the above I think all I need is the i/c and that should be it. Is my prop ok for 400bhp and rear diff?

You could do with having a look on the quattroforum, there are numerous ongoing and completed 20v transplants on there.

Neither is a quick plug in job wiring wise, there are quite a few new pins to fit for the fuel pump for a start and you'll need the 3B/ABY fuel relay. If you are using an ABY engine use the ABY loom and you'll also need to be ingenious with the rev counter operation as the pulse coming out of the ecu for the series 3 rev counter will not operate the series 2 version, hence why it was one of the reasons I used the 3B. Also need to swap over the oil pressure senders from the KV engine to the 20VT and disconnect and remove all the wiring presently used for the ignition side of the KV. Have drawings here and wiring schedules I drew up when doing mine if it helps, though mine is the 3B... You will also have fun trying to find somewhere for the intercooler?! Good luck!

Gearbox. I can put you in contact with Patrick Carlier in Belgium who made all the parts to allow the 6 speed to fit using the standard subframe and without the need to cut the transmission tunnel. PM me your e-mail address and will forward all relevant info.

Yes that surprised me too, the weight was the biggest shock, suffering in silence today. Looking forward to seeing it moving in there. Going to get my kv lump out today and then its just, clean up engine bay and engine and wait for a looom to turn up. Although spink said that I need a centre part of the prop from an s2 also. May also need drive shafts unless I can use my existing ones.

            Thanks again Raj.

Its the front section, that attaches to the box only that you need i believe, not sure if the whole aby prop will fit or not.I can size up a few propshafts later today if i get time
