3B misfries when the go pedal is pressed hard.

If the accelerator pedal is pressed hard down, the car feels like its misfiring, but if you accelerate gently its nice and smooth.

the turbo has just been rebuilt, if it makes and difference

I have been researching the forum and the have been reports of sudden boost causing problems also old leads and plugs being another possible option.

any suggestions on where to start looking?

my money is on an air leak, or series of them, check the intake plumbing, jubilee clips for tightness and the vacuum lines too.

had the same problem. its like you have to balance the throttle to have it accelerate smoothly.
i checked for airleaks, but found out that the problem was the MAF.

Similar symptoms here. Turned out to be a double boost leak, they're the easiest things to check as they're in view whereas the maf can only really be checked by replacing it! There's only a few to check, there's 3 obvious ones

          - airbox to turbo. If the 3B is like the ABY it should have 3 smaller pipes going into it, check all the clips and that there's no rips under them.

          - turbo to intercooler. Mine had split where it branches off on a smaller pipe going back to the airbox to turbo pipe. You can check it from underneath by having a good feel round. These are about £150 from Audi.

          - intercooler to engine. This is easy to check as its the one at the front of the engine bay. Check it near the clips.

I also had one on the throttle body section. This is hidden out of sight under the triangular assembly so can be hard to spot. If it is this one then I have a brand new one I no longer need as replaced it with a full Roose silicone set - they're £22 new from Audi.

Good luck solving the problem, with those symptoms it could be a whole host of things so try and work your way through them - cheapest and easier first
