Won't work david - the box section locks the crank(pulley) to the snub mount - then you have to get a 27mm socket in the box section to remove the bolt.

Ah well it was a thought. It would not be as substantial as yours either.

I was wondering why people use box section. I suppose it's easier to find in thick wall than round tube.

I can't remember what I did 11 years ago but didn't use a crank locking tool.

I will be putting a new belt on mine anyway soon when I do the cam covers and the inlet manifold and the exhaust shield.

      Then the brakes....

Ant - you want tool number 3256 for an ABY - not 2084 according to the manual. I've never seen them side by side to tell the difference, but there ya go...

My Main Stealer friend couldnt find that tool number Paul, He checked there stuff, Erwin stuff and additional docs they had around and also checked with the audi stealers opposite.

2084 is listed for S2 coupe tho, Ben are you able to find it or anything??

Here are pictures of the two tools: (The ERWIN site is up and down like a yo-yo so they might not work all the time )

                  2084

                  3256

2084 is listed for audi 80 1987>/coupe 1989> 5 cyl. injection engine (4 valve, turbo)

3256 is listed for audi 80 1992> 5 cyl. injection engine (4 valve, turbo)

Erwin doesn't distinguish between different engine codes so I would imagine that the 3B is listed under the coupe section and the ABY is listed under the 80 section. ETKA does this a lot as well. For instance ABY knock sensors are shown incorrectly in the coupe sections but are correct in the A80Q section.

                  HTH,

                  Ben
