Hi Rusty.
I've taken a look and it seems it can work.
Currently have a VDO gauge in center vent but night light doesn't match the other gauges.
Does your gauge light through the needle and numbers?

Used to have;



Which lit up like this using a 6 x red LED wedge bulb;



Then changed due to first being in old money (PSI), face being pure white as opposed to S2 light grey and the needle didn't illuminate.
The new one lights up like other gauges (numbers lit + needle) and is in bar with a light grey face.
