  • 10v valve needed, get a cuppa, it'll take 10mins to read lol

hi, my 80 quattro has a 10v turbo motor in it on 034efi management and it has never ran right, so i decided to go back to basics rather than blaming myself for been useless at mapping lol(i still think that but...) anyway i did a quick compression test using the end of a ratchet in the plug holes lol number 1 had nothing number 2 was good and the rest were ok, so i pulled the head off to find out the valves werent seating right on no1 so i took them all out and started to grind them back in, only to find 1 of the exhaust valves was ovaled and cracked not to worry i'll go get my spare 10v head, 20 minute drive each way had the spare head on the bench, out came an exhaust valve.. and guess what, its different lol 2mm smaller across the face slightly shorter and only 1 groove for the collet............phoned audi, and gave part number"its not an audi part" so gave them the inlet valve part number and he says NLA so does any1 know were i'll find a valve that is
    98.43mm overall length
    7.92mm shaft
    34.8mm across the face
    3 grooves for the collets
on the valve is written SV035/3T-T33145 so i rang Specialist Valves and they dont list it or have anything similar and for a few new 1s made would be 2k lol due to it having to go through 22machines from start to finish.
searching on google i found this,
    EXHAUST VALVE EUROSPEC

    35mm x 8mm x 98.5mm
    $ 12.00

    035 109 611 F/35

anyone know what this valve is for? i need it quickly otherwise i'd buy 1 from the site them specs above are from. please help and sorry about the essay lol

Sounds like an early solid lifter turbo valve. I think the number would be 035 109 611H.
Might be able to source something through a machine shop. Failing that, perhaps someone has a odd one or two laying around!

is there anywhere i can find a few more measurements for valves? like a database on the net somewhere? as the valve i mentioned above might not have the required 35mm face :S

I thing those valves might be used as an upgrade with replacement seats hence the 35mm size as opposed to the nominal 33mm. I think there are slightly oversized version that can be used on std seats. So they are not drop in replacements. Some machine work would be required. There is some info about it on Motorgeek somewhere.

the engine came from jon cook of here and was described as this:
                Full Spec is as Follows:
Audi 200 tresser 5 Cylinder 10 Valve KG Engine, Capacity increased from 2144cc to 2198cc, Karl Schmidt Pistons and con-rods (7.2:1 CR), Fully Balanced, High-lift, Wide-angle Cam (Shrick), Fully GasFlowed and ported head with Larger sodium filled valves, ported and polished plenum chamber,20vt multilayered head gasket with arp headbolts, so if it is what he says then maybe it has the oversized seats allready...

                any info jon??? lol

Hmm.. well if its a Treser modification thats going to be less straight forward! I guess if you had the patience you could track it down. I doubt whether its a one off so he used something from another manufacturer.
So It might be time to bite the bullet and replace them all. As you have said, those 35mm ones might be an option. 034 also sell some Manley replacements for $150 that might be worth considering:

It wil be pricey mind, plus the fact that it will be useless if you do indeed have 35mm exhaust valves!

Contact TSR Performance. And quote you valve dimensions. I had to buy 5 new 35mm valves for a solid lifter KV head about a year ago. I seem to recall them being about £15 a piece??

                        Worth a try.

I guess the mterial selection is going to be an issue. presumably he needs something turbo friendly! Considering the damage that sodium filled ones do when they fail, I would suggest spending the extra for something up to the job!
