Also, when me an my dad lowered my engine back into mine we had to use a bit of leverage to twist the engine to get it to align.

Also as it goes in you have to get it across the subframe at a slight angle down then twist it to align it. thats what we foudn anyway.

? Never taken an engine out of one (yet, im sure my time will come)

Looking good doug. Just make sure the clutch is centred. It would possibly make your life easier if your lowered the subframe. You could give steve a ring, but it may be easier without the DM flywheel

You may also have to twist the motor a little going in if the splines on the transmission output shaft and the splines on the clutch disk don't line exactly.

I got the engine in tonight - I was really releived as I thought t was going to be a nightmare.

I got a new release bearing

I dropped the subframe by about 10 inches.

I rotated the gearbox forward so that the mating face was perfectly upright - used a spirit level.

I got the clutch aligned properly - although the machine mart tool is *****.

I got 2 adjustable straps for holding the engine on the engine mount brackets and one strap to hold the front a aset postion - I could then angle the engine (front to back) and rotate it using the straps.

I removed the engine mounts as the engine will sit under them as the gearbox is rotated forward - but it jacks up ok and you can add them after.

I used the spirit level to align the mating face on the engine - offered it the engine upto the gearbox and a few tweaks and it slipped on - I was amazed !!

Done my back in though - don't know how.
