    oil warning light

    Bit of a vague one.
Went out tonight fired the old girl up and the oil warning is flashing up with the dreaded beep. Checked the oil level earlier and its fine. <ittle pressure gauge in centre console is reading 5 bar on start up which is fine.
Cant see how its related but my indicators have also packed up. Hazards work fine though. checked all fuses and their fine.
The engine is an aan 20vt in a cab. Sadly dont have access to vagcom.
    Any ideas greatly appreciated

      .

      Which one?

Prolly the low pressure sensor, must be >0.8 bar wiv ignition on, engine not running.

      Sounds like stalk fault.

          Gav,
Had similar problem with my indicators some months ago - obviously when car was still on road
Changed the relay for new one with no luck. Was ripping hair out with a mate when he decided to check the new relay.... it was faulty. So do not discount new parts being faulty, but check relay for indicators.

Right anyone got any more ideas on this?
Indicator problme fixed. Oil warning light still coming on.
Ive changed both the oil pressure senders (is there a third ive missed?) and also changed the the spade connectors on the loom that plugs into them. Getting 5bar on fire up and 2 bar when warm and idling. Cant see any damaged wiring anywhere and ive even tried swapping the autocheck unit for another but made no difference.
            Any ideas?
            Thanks

i had the same sort of problem and had to change the hole wire that stoped it. the way i did it was to Find the colour of the wire for the sender that you think is the problem (different sender course different problem mine showed to oil light then bleeped) find it on the back of you auto cheque system bare the wire behind the auto cheque then run a wire from the sender to the bare wire behind the auto cheque. That how I did it on my 10 valve 90 may be different to yours I don’t know

I've got this same problem now Gav, did you ever get to the bottom of it?
I changed the white 1.8bar pressure sensor for a new one, tried my spare autocheck and no difference.

Can't find the other oil pressure sensor Carl mentioned though? Am i being stupid? Where is it?

                    .

Low pressure is 0.3 bar, switches are about 3 inches apart on the rad side, slightly lower than the thermostat housing.

                    One at 12 o'clocke the other at 6 o'clock.

                    Hth.

you don't mean the pressure sender do you? (big cotton reel thing?)
I thought that was only a sender for the aux gauges, does it have a dual function?

                        .

The above are the only 2 sensors which go back to the Autocheck...this is where you are getting the failure 'sign' and beep?

The 'cotton reel' sensor only does the aux gauge, no dual function.

Nope sorry, the "cotton reel" guy does have a dual function; it's both the sender for the oil pressure gauge and the 0.3 bar oil pressure switch. The guy below that is the 1.8 bar "low" pressure switch that autocheck only takes any notice of from around 2000rpm upwards.

                            .

Hang on...getting my engines real fused up here...

                            Agree mostly with Johne...but

                            Top sensor...1.8 bar white,
                            Bottom sensor...dual-gauge and 0.3 bar.

This is from my AAN pdf, dont want to put it on here but if peeps need, i'll try.

It doesn't matter which way up the sensors are screwed into the block, they're the same thread & size and on the same oil gallery. On my ABY the cotton reel is the higher one and I think it was that way round in Paul N's ABY engine guide.
