S2 wheres all the acceleration gone!!??

    Hi
Im new to the forum and new to my S2,Had a couple of audis in the past A4s and a 225 TT.Always wanted a S2, and wife allowing finaly got one!!

My S2 has 175k full maindealer history with all receipts and had lots of money spent on her.

The S2 seems very under powered, this has got to a problem as the acceleration is very poor (as fast as my 1.7 diesel Astravan), pinking when throttle down and at 3000rpm long flat spot until eventualy gets to 4500rpm 60mph up all seems ok,
It has just had a new throttle body, I Replaced Ignition leads and rocker gasket as oil was leaking in to sparkplug locations and into distributor cap I was hoping that was the problem, but its still there.
    OBD2 shows no faults..

I would appreciate any help and advice you guy have,as pulling my hair out(and theres not a lot there to start with)

Sounds like it could be simple as a boost leak. These cars are getting older now and the hoses are not to smart, rose motor sport do a set or some one else...

      Welcome
I would say its definitly a boost leak, search the forum and you will find tons of info about them. Have a search for the "Mark H nod" too, which replaces the o ring real between the cross member pipe and intercooler, which is a common place for them to leak

As above, uaually is one of these, I had one 2 weeks ago after refitting a pipe and leaving the connector a tad loose, blew the hose off the intercooler

It can take a while to go over the car and get it all sorted for boost leaks etc. but when you get it all sorted it'll fly

Other thing is to check it's got the correct F5DPOR plugs too, standard plugs won't cut it.

Pinking is a strange symptom... boost leak would lead to rich running so unlikely to det. Could be timing, not sure how it's controlled on a 3B tho (5 speed).

I bet its the same as my blue one was, the pinking feels like a misfire or if its alternating between on and off boost really quickly

Best to replace with Silicon items IMO.

                    Get that test kit too

Boost gauge can e sourced for <£30 and are simple enough to plumb in.
