    Coolant system overhaul

I've replaced quite a few items in the coolant system but thought that it might be useful to go through the whole thing and replace anything remaining. The old, brittle plastic parts are now a problem waiting to happen...

I've learnt the hard way on a few occasions.

Rad top pipe snapped off 50 miles from home, the rad that replaced that broke at the lower mounting point. Then the after run pump exploded in my face and I ended up in A&E for 3 hours... oh, I love cars I does

    Parts I can think of:-

Radiator - raplaced with OE after Nissens one went pop after < 2 years.
Aux. Radiator- removed and pipes plugged.
After run pump - replaced with Bosch.
Turbo coolant pipes near WP - replaced - serious problem waiting to happen, mine were shot
Header tank & cap - replaced with OE.
Water pump - replaced with RS2 item (smaller pulley, requires RS2 cambelt).
    Thermostat - replaced with OE.
Coolant, replaced more times than I care to think

Head feed pipe - metal or plastic, to be replaced.
Water pipes - replace with silicon items.
Heater matrix - crosses all available body parts...

Heater matrix hose with bleed valve in, bleed valve head has snapped.

    Any more for any more?

I recently replaced my After run pump bcos it had started to dribble £95 from Quattro Corner

The Turbo coolant pipes near WP?....... are those the the ones close to the water manifold beneath the Power steering pump

Correct! If you haven't checked these pipes then get on it, could be a very expensive lesson based on a £1 pipe

You're not a man till you're done a heater matrix
I think you have it all covered there though mate, did you get that horrible plastic coolant fee nipple on the back of the head?

Don't suppose you have the Bosch part number for the afterrun pump on a receipt or anything do you?

If you look on NLA then there's a link to the Bosch parts catalogue so you can find it there.

Feed nipple is being looked into by P Daddy.

There a lot of stuff not listed on the e-catalogue though, after-run pump being one of them

                  Alex,

Do a search on here there is a thread with both the OEM part numbers and GSF ones with a Bosch referecnce (I think!)

                  Cheers,

                  Steve.

Found it - should be a direct replacement too, not like GSF crap that AFAIK you need to modify to fit

The GSF one is not "crap", it is a Bosch pump and merely needs the connector to be "massaged" with a stanley knife!

There's a ridge on the plastic connector you have to remove to allow it to plug into the electric pump.

If you're not in a rush for a replacement pump, keep an eye on ebay.com. I got mine off there for £20 + postage

                            £20....i wish
