Connecting a slim line fan, Which wires?

Hi I have replaced my old huge 3b fan with a 14" slim fan.

The New Fan has 2 wires, blue/black,

On the old fan i have 2 connections one with red, blue stripe/red, blue stripe.
And a bigger connection further down with more cables.
    Cant remember their coulurs.

How do i hook up the new fan for the hi speed setting ?
I'm also going to use a override switch when need.

Hopfully someone can help me out.

    Cheers /Pelle

if its like my corrado the high and low are the same just a resistor in the fan to lowe speed.

connect the power to the low speed so the high never comes in or to the high speed so it gets hotter then on fast.

i like fan to low. it worked fine on the corrado.

i looked into this the other week. IIRC it needs a pacet pro 12" to fit the radiator shielding as the outer edge of the pacet is almost 13". always best to leave that in. thats ABY

The resistor pack is external on the S2... and different between 3B and ABY from memory... needs to pick up the correct side of thermal switches to parallel up an override switch as well.

I fitted a 2 way override switch for high and very high speeds, not sure if non AC cars have the very high speed fan, it's hilarious, like a jet on take-off

Some other variants on 5-pot do have one internal resistor alright.

                  Start here ---> http://www.s2central.net/S2_Schematics/MY92-3B-C.htm

Do you have aircon or not ?

Looking at all variants for that year you should have three wires on the fan itself. bet you have lots of dirt so blue and black and brown might look the same - LOL.

                  1 - red/black (wired direct to motor)
2 - red/blue (wired thru internal resistor and connected thru external one as well)
                  3 - brown (earth)

The problem you have is that old fan runs at two speeds depending on whether 12V is placed at pin 1 or 2. Furthermore, use of external resistor pack at pin 2 allows two speed options there - giving a three speed setup created by one internal resistor and one external one.

                  You have two choices here...

A - Wire up the new fan with external resistor to work in only two speeds
B - Retrofit the external resistor pack from ABY/ADU which allows three speeds - you'd need to see wiring for that to compare

How do you want to go - i can help you either way

You can put your radiator on top of the motor.

or you can use reverse intake
