    Very annoying problem!

I have a s2 avant and it has this problem: Sometimes when I want to accelerate with all it got it makes a boost cut and goes into emergency program (don't know if its called that.) Turn the engine off and it can go full on again. But it happens again and again. Had VAGcom plugged to it and it said that the max turbo pressure where exceeded and the mixture was too rich. Erased all the fault codes and it went like it were supposed to but it happened again next day. Help me all you wise people.!! Cheers Anders

Sounds like a good old boost leek. Check all pipes/clips etc to make sure they are not ripped/loose.

Can it be a boost leak when the the codes where erased and it could make a good long pull on the highway? And it kept the boost on the same level for a good long time?

I found with mine that the leak got worse when the car had warmed up. The jubilee clips turned out to be a little loose on some of the pipes so I thought the heat expansion made this worse.

It may be one of the many sensors - MAF, WGFV etc but these would show up error codes I think.

I think I will check the boost system tomorrow, just to be sure.

Boost leak or bad MAF are the main candidates.

I had the same problem you are describing not long after buying my car. Because of the intermittent nature of the fault I decided it couldn't be a boost leak. (It only happened a few times, perhaps not as often as you are getting the fault.) Since changing the wastegate frequency valve the fault has not reoccured, so fingers crossed.....

sounds so familiar....my avant is leaking like a tea strainer...and my last coupe had a split in the WGFV...

                    test that boost....
