    does it need remapping?

Hello, now I have put a full 3" miltek pipe on it, does it need remapping to get the best from having fitted it?

The stock exhaust needs remapping to get the best from it; the 3" system - definitely!! If it's been mapped previously then it should be OK, if not talk to s2central.net and send him your ECU and some $$$ and your S2 will be reborn.

A decent exhaust on a MAF equipped turbo car gives somewhat automatic gains of course, but you won't get best from turbo and its new found lack of backpressure without the joy of increased boost - and therefore torque - leading directly to grins, whooshing noises and the scenery whizzing by ever so swiftly.

          id say no.

the system should reduce back pressure improving spool and a little top end.

if you are not increasing boost then the timing and fueling will stay within the map already set. like paul said the may will do the rest.

it would help, as always but id say at this syage it would be not good bang for buck.

            Thanks for clearingthat up.
The car has been thru mrc's hands in the past, and decatted, I would say it is putting out high 2** hp.
I also have a tubular exhaust manifold, injectors and a turbo(whose type escapes me at mo) that is rated to 380 hp( says rs2 380hp+ on specs), and want to it these soon. I want to send Paul my ecu( i also have a spare) but might I do it all first, or can it be not too pricey if I keep sending it after each job is sorted?
            Tanks a lot, Bernie

With the zorst on you are ready for the bigger turbo alright... Seems like you have all the bits ready to make it work - though an RS2 or Wagner intercooler wouldn't go amiss. Let me know when ready for the ECU to be tickled - only needs done the once, but I can offer a multimap setup as well if thats of interest.

On another note, I have a 3a engine that I am tempted to do up with some aby head etc that I have about, and my satanic mechanic has told me the pistons are 82.485. Can anyone point me in the direction I need to go, and tell me of benefits to using this engine with aby ancilliaries fitted, as well as if there are any pistons, rods etc going begging to do it up please? I am humle and skint, but will ransom the missus if I need to drum up some cash! If this is the way forward, I will save the turbo and bits for this engine.Btw if anyone wants any dark metallic green bodybits, I have ended up with a load from an avant I sold on, and have the complete carbon trim and interior also. Swaps are always better

                  3B or 7A I think you mean ?

                  Last time I checked - the 3A was a 2liter 4cyl

LOL - just noticed the 'ransom the missus' comment - very good - whats she look like......

Guessing you are talking about uprating the 7A engine to ABY spec - it has been done alright - mostly stateside I should think but its a comprehensive rebuild of the motor to uprate rods, bearings etc.

7A piston diameter is nominally 82.5mm whereas the 3B/ABY has 81mm. Hence why 7A is 2309 and ABY is 2226

I'd imagine stock 7A pistons are fine for use in mild state of tuning, but you'd be into custom forged specials for big power. Other experts on internals can advise better than me with real BTDT experience.

The motor in question had thrown a rod when it came to me, and it had the turbo on that i want to fit on mine. Any guesses as to the reason? He said it died whilst slow driving.

There was no big intercooler on it.

7A ....told you I hadnt had a cuppa yet-rectified now though!

My motor is an aby, and my choice is whether to just bolt on the bits I have(plus maybe one or two more) to my engine, or do the 7a up being as it is on a stand in the garage. Maybe both with time allowing, but I guess i would like to just get on and fit the bits to my engine asap.
I have a spare ecu that came off the rod bender, would you be able to see what skulldugggery has ben done to it, Paul rather than me just fit it and then start a new post for wanted, aby engine?

If this is a Milltek system it won't have a 3" downpipe which is where the biggest gains to be had
