Need to press reset for a few seconds for it to work. Doesn't reset eveything either. The computer monitors in 24 hour "chunks". Upper readout L to R is "MPG right now",
Miles available at current MPG" and " fuel used this trip" ( I think, - its useless!). Lower readout "time elapsed since last reset" (if below 23hr 59 min), "average MPG since reset" and "average MPG since reset. Use the toggle at the end of the stalk to move round the display. Reset is the button under the stalk - As Dr H says - hold it down.Comment

The owners manual has full instructions about this device. you may be able to get one from Audi or go to a scrap yard and if you look through enough cars you will find an owners pack grey vinyl with VAG service written on it.
