    http://www.034efi.com/Hybrid_turbos.html

    Hi!

    Saw a cool USA site - http://www.034efi.com.
They have a section with hybrids - http://www.034efi.com/Hybrid_turbos.html
I wonder if these are better choices than my ordered RS2 unit (and they cost much less!). But how do they bolt on and what about chip?
Is there a better combination of minimal tuning kit than mine (RS2 turbo, EM and injectors) with one of these turbos?

    THANK YOU!

    Ivan,
trying not to be slow compared to my friends on STi Imprezas...

that is the turbo I am looking at just now the K26/T04, the turbo map is in my post title PaulN.

the guy that sells them Javad says boost by 3500rpm, very fast rom 4k to 7k and flows very efficently up to 25psi

The turbos are excellent, but IMHO they need ceramic bearings in order to have a good spool-up, and then they absolutely require custom tuning, otherwise they don't run well...

so what about the smaller K26/T03 turbo, is it anything like the RS2 turbo what sort of max bhp can you expect with it

Point taken, most of the guys on motorgeek including me have gone with 034efi aftermarket ecu.Its to get rid of the restrictive pissy MAF system that Audi gifted my cars with.
The K26/T04E is a better turbo than the RS2 and even if it doesnt have ceramic bearings it will still give better results at half the price.
          Look at the bright side:
          RS2 Turbo = K26/T04E turbo + Stage IIc
I remember RS2 turbos are a hefty penny for nothing.

Restrictive pissy MAF system??????? I think you're talking about CIS, the motronic MAF is only restrictive because the end-user can't tune it, which I do like. Like it or not, tuning Motronic and tuning engines is my bread-earning job, I might be biased thus, but saying that a motronic is restrictive just because of the MAF is plain bull****. How come a MAF-equipped car can still run 500+HP then? Is it because the MAF is restrictive? The RS4 engine can go up to 650HP and it does still have a MAF.

I hate talking **** about standalone systems, but one thing is sure: on a speed-density standalone system, you have to take all parameters into account, do testing at high intake temperatures as well as very low in order to make sure the car will even start, just because the speed density system has to calculate the air mass that goes inside the engine based on the air's temperature and the manifold absolute pressure. In these regards, such a system is much inferior to a MAF system, like it or not.

The RS2 turbo costs a lot of money, but it still is the best compromise between low end torque and high-end HP, 600Nm and 370HP from just a turbo that will maintain low-speed driveability pretty much similar to that of a stock turbo, sorry but I can't see anything bad about this, except for its price that's gone sky high in just a few months...

Plus, mr wizard of OD, do you have an S2? Have you driven an RS2 setup and a T04 setup so you can compare?

Going standalone looks nice but you have to go through the trouble of replacing the whole wiring harness, and sorry, but most of the people out there can't be arsed with such things when their car is a daily driver, thus your point about RS2turbo=T04E+stgIIc is silly because it compares 2 things that can't be compared.

****....i hit a nerve. No i was not talking about CIS,please dont confuse me for a newb
Ok...fact MAP Based System(which all standalone systems are based) are better for a FOrced Induced car than a MAF system which uses the principle of perfect combustion.Sorry if thats your bread earner and stuff but i spoke my mind.

As for the RS2,i have never driven one but i have been in an S2 and i did have a UR-Q so i know sorta what its lile.I paid close to $800US for a Rebuilt RS2 Turbo.A Brand New RS2 turbo was around 1800!
A K26/T04E is around $700US and a Stage 1c was about $1100.I was comparing the price Mihnea. There must be some misunderstanding but you were talking about how the RS2 is more "tuner friendly" than the T04E/K26 combo.I was simply saying if someone was buying a brand new RS2 turbo for that much cash and still using a MAF system then for the same amount of money you could have an ECU which you can program to YOUR Specs and a decent Turbo. No matter what chip you install in the Stock ECU,it will never be as good as stand alone and the RS2 turbo is highly over rated.I was advised to sell mine and to get a K26/T04E and so i did.

Wizard, I think you've never understood what I am about. When I tune a car, I tune it as the owner wants to have it, period. I am sort of the missing link between the ECU programming and the owner's wishes.

Now, of course, there's things you will be able to do and that I won't do, but such things mean only going beyond what's considered as reliable in the long term, and this is where an owner with his very performant standalone system will never compare to any Motronic tuner, wether he is good or bad.

But anyway, I won't pursue this discussion, it's a bit pointless to me and I have much better to do than ramble about the everlasting war between motronic and standalone. For me Motronic is perfect and I don't need anything else, as Motronic and its infamous MAF can handle way over 600 crank HP on a 2.2 20v turbo engine, in case more fuel than what 5 injectors can supply is needed, I am the only one around who can reprogram a Motronic in order to fire 5 additional injectors or use it to trigger NOS/water injection/whatever else you might need...

Now of course, people who can't reprogram motronic will always say it's ****, I for one can reprogram any motronic used on any Audi, and I can tell you that the Motronic used for instance on 1.8Ts and 2.7TTs is waaaaaaaaaaay more intelligent and flexible (of course, once you know how to program it and once you've understood how it works) than about any standalone system out there.

Having said that, I won't say the RS2 is tuner friendly, sure it is from a certain standpoint, as from all american "tuners" standpoint who have off the shelf software available, stolen from MTM or Lehmann and who can sell it for big bux because it works great on RS2 turbos (and only on RS2 turbos).

But why do you want to use additional injectors? What sort of power goals do you want to achieve?

I think you still didn't get what I do actually...

What I do is custom tuning. Custom tuning means I have access to some data that no one else outside of Germany has, and with the help of that data, I can reconfigure basically any output of the ECU in order to do what I want it to do.

Everything else is just programming and practice.
