unfortunately I have to agree with the above, if your after some decent power from your car without chucking money away for stuff that some might say is getting outdated for the money then i'd suggest looking at some of the threads on here, try follow in the foot steps of people like vasilis as he's got a decent power rs2 without killing the bank etc. There are a few people on here running 500+ bhp without spending loads that they have not got on the parts and without making mistake.
sorry if it sounds harsh but we're trying to help you save money that if spent on stuff like changing the management on the car would be unneccessary.
Worth starting a thread up saying what you want and for people's suggestions on how to get it, whatever you decide please keep us updated

I am using Motronic for over 600hp and there are many cars with motronic well over this mark. The system is really quite good.... I think it can run up to 5 injectors per cylinder iirc?ChefComment

For 500bhp in rs2:
H-beam rods - aron
wagner exhaust manifold
wagner intercooler
3"downpipe and exhaust
garret gt 35 or similar comp-turbo/ precision
mrc map..
some new oil-lines etc
One thing i've learned we are way behind the Scandinavians!Comment

Whooooa! Lads!
Calm down lads..... I just called Dialynx for a quote to buiild me a 600hp engine, and they said that the standard MAF would not cope....... I just want a cool engine now, and cant bearsed to mess about getting too oily! I work too many hours a week to spend the rest of my time in a pit! Sorry boys.... I just want the best engine for me!!!!!

Have to agree with the above here... not that you won't be pleased with the result from dialynx or QST etc... but there's what i would call a more thorough job, quite possible on 1/2 the cost or for the same cost you could include a full engine rebuild to a fantastic standard & specification. And there's no reason you have to be going doing it yourself and getting your hands dirty... when Tom rebuilt my engine, i dropped it off with him - unscheduled i might add due to a radiator failure - and 3 weeks later i picked it up and drove it home with a full rebuild, a host of other niggles fixed and an MOT. Yes, I did provide most parts and took the internals to get balanced (he offered to get it couriered but i wanted to sort it personally) but other than that I let him get on with it and had a 450hp engine.
I've seen personally an engine for a member on here built by Aelred when he was just finishing it, cost about £5k and was ready to be refitted + remapped to 600+hp. No reason it should cost the earth...
My advice - if you want to drop it off and pick it up later, may as well goto MRC or Tom who can give you one hell of an engine, professionally live remapped, for alot less! I know it can look a bit scarey looking at what's involved in some of the project threads here, but really it isn't neccesary if you want to pay someone else to do the work you should have alot of change from £10k, and can keep and sell alot of old parts to help foot the bill after.

there is a guy with a 2.0L 4cyl 20v on Motronic (ME7?) Vw in Quebec that has >700 WHP and runs low low 9 second 1/4 mile.
anything is possible with a good tune even if it is factory management.

gotta agree. if its a good setup. like mentioned above be it for the I5 or in a golf like marc has in canada.
i went to vems as i cant tune motronic. i dont havre the knowledge or the tools to do so. aftermarket saves cracking the code and its easier for the next person to diagnose issues as the map is open.
i do however believe factory systems, due to what is spent on their developement can when used within limits far exceed the performance of aftermarket.
you pays your money and takes your choice. i must say id use the known's on the forum if it wasn't for me to do. when it comes to the best builds its often not the big players who are behind them.Comment

Fraser, i agree with gazza and the rest.
As i told you when we met, VEMS is an easy enough solution with lots of help from other users, and as you saw the car had no issues with idling or other sort of problems. However that does not mean that motronic cannot be tuned for higher hp. I know MRC can succesfully do it by putting the maf on the pressure side and cope with more than 600hp. Other german tuners do it by getting bigger mafs, and so on.
it all depends how much you want to be a part of the tuning process or not. Safety will be there anytimeComment

A slight aside on this one - but its relevant...
Looking under the hood of the TTRS and the new supercharged S4 (V6 lump) - there was a distinct lack of a MAF anywhere to be seen... Now unless me & DaveC caught a simultaneous case of MAF blindness by the shiny trickiery of new fangled Audis and those engine parts you can't help touching... Seems like Audi & Bosch have gone away from our much loved/hated MAF and plumped for ECUs which use TPS and MAP sensors for load measurement... One less restriction to the airway and one less obstacle for the aftermarket tuners...
I presume you can run something like VEMS with or without MAF depending on setup - I know a lot of aftermarket ECUs don't use MAF - and these systems are not necessarily super expensive.Paul Nugent
