    valve stem oil seals?

Last few days i seem to be seeing a bit of a cloud of blue-ish smoke on start up from cold only. Presuming the v/s oil seals are finally going after 180k+ miles.

Its also not firing cleanly when turning over, though not every time.....could the issue be linked? Idles fine once started and no further oil when booting it, boosts nicely and no really excessive fuel consumption etc.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers
    David

Valve stem seals should show on the move when you lift off & reapply trottle. If from cold idling think small leak via turbo seals.

Could be VSOS David - my 7A smokes when hot on idle when the oil is thinner it passes more, and I get a little puff at start-up - definately VSOS on mine as I obviously have no turbo and breather system has been stripped and thoroughly cleaned out. Doesn't smoke on the move though.... not that I can notice anyway.

How can you check the turbo seals?

I have similar issue - car smokes like a pig upon start up - is fne when driving in any conditions but if in static traffic, will begin to belch blue smoke again - seems only when car is idling.
