    Clips for vacuum hose

What to people use as clips when they replace vacuum hose.

I'm thinking of replacing some of the accessable ones on my car but cannot seem to find suitable clips. I can't see a way of reusing the original ones .

To fit my boost gauge I used zip ties bit are these suitable for under bonnet use?

    Cheers

The O.E are single use crimp clips. There a ball ache to use as you have to clamp them with special pliers to close them.

I've used VAG miniclips. There not a bad design and they aren't too expensive. Depends on the hose your using as to what size you need though.

    Part numbers are as follows:
    Code:
     8mm 111 999 575 28p ea + VAT
     9mm 111 999 576 29p ea + VAT
    10mm 111 999 576 29p ea + VAT
I needed the 10mm ones because I used SFS silicone hose but the 8mm or 9mm are right for normal fabric covered vacuum hose.

If your going to be a billing, and you don't need them before, let me know as I've got a load of the 8mm at home so I can bring some with me.

Some of those hoses aren't as accesible as they first look though. I found a hole in the one to the ECU across the back of the engine bay. It goes behind the main wiring loom and round the ISV. Not an easy replacement

      Cheers Ben

I'm not going to be a Billing but thanks for the offer. What are VAG miniclips are they small jubilee clips?

Also what is the internal diameter of the vacuum hose as I see you can get different sizes. I reckon my boost gauge stuff (3mm internal) is too small?

      Thanks again

        Ben,

I'm replacing my fabric hose with SFS 4mm ID tubing at the moment.

Am I right that the 10mm clips are right for this size SFS hose or is 9mm better?

        Cheers
        Jim

To be honest I think 9mm would be better if you can get them on. A couple of my 10mm clips seem to be a touch loose, so I'll be changing them for 9mm at the weekend hopefully. Should have my boost gauge by then as well so I can find out how much boost I'm loosing from somewhere near the turbo.

The VAG clips are mini jubilee clips except they tighten round one side in the same way the original crimp clips do. The ID of the hose should be 4mm the same as the fabric covered O.E hose.

Yep - all the fabric covered narrow tubing can be replaced with 4mm internal diameter (ID) silicone hose. I've noted that the SFS 4mm tubing has somewhat thicker sidewalls than the Samco 4mm.

Also - the tubing from turbo to WGFV and onto WG can be replaced with 8mm ID.

And yes - the factory crimp clips are a bit of an ****, and you'd think that replacement ikkle hose clips would be easy to find. Good Tie-wraps work fine under the bonnet if you can't find anything else, but they look kak.

I used the Minaba Hose Clips from Demon Tweeks - I think I used the 8mm clips at 54p each.

What clips do people recommend for the turbo hoses? The cheapo ones I have look as if they might cut into hoses. And sources for them??

SFS hose place sells stainless hose clips with rolled edges. Apparently they are best for silicone hoses as they don't cut into them.

Guys im thinking of fitting my samco boost hoses this weekend but was wondering what clips to purchase? I dont mean style but size.

I remember seeing a post once with a list of sizes, however it was not made clear which sizes are needed.

                  Any BTDT ?

From what I remember after recently re doing all my boost hoses (not samcos)
I just bought an assortment of required different sized jubilee clips...

                        List Would have been:

                        4 70-90mm

                        6 50-70mm clips

                        4 40-60mm

                        4 30-50mm

                        4 20-40mm

                        4 10-20mm

Im not saying you will use all of these but that is about what I bought iirc....though I did replace all other clips I could find too so used them all in the end.

For what they cost its always useful to have a few in stock anyway!!

Make sure to get really good quality ones as cheapo ones sometime slip when you get to a certain torque on them

                          try this one

or if you can hang on a day or two I'll dig out the receipt for the clips that I got when I did my 3B boost hoses, got them from Forge who do all Stainless clips (band and drive screw, not just band)

Just ordered some from Demon Tweeks.

As people recommended, i ordered a bit more than i needed. specially when no one knows the EXACT sizes and amount needed.

I bought the best ones available for the sizes needed, and made sure i had a few spare incase I get stuck.

can anyone guess the prise of the clips?

                            £140!!!

I bit my tongue and swiped.
