    First normal run! 28mpg! Wohooooooo

well she went to work with me today and i had this really bad feeling (having only gunned her about locally!) that id need a fuel tanker at my back quarter for the run to work.
But..........keeping calm, supressing the urge to close big gaps quickly, i manged her into work with the comp showing 28.4mpg avg. and the fuel guage hadnt moved TOO much. think this means i might be able to justify her to the wife afterall.
ALtho i can see the hunt for an 80TDi starting shortly!!!!

Mate.. if you're driving an S2, you shouldnt be worried about fuel consumption
I know that it's realy hard pain when she eats fuel too much as you want, but the emotions driving it makes good sense

btw, once I had 8l/100 (on ex-S2 3B) on trip computer when I was cruising 200KM at 90KM/h

As I have to drive much in a week I brought an A4 1.9tdi PD, funny but it eats about 5-5.5l/100 when cruising, and 6-8l/100 in town (depends on foot weight) for an S2 this is only a dream..

My average over the last few fill ups has been 22mpg, but as I use the beast for fun its pretty good I think. Managed 26mpg when I had a run up North to a show a few weeks back keeping to 75mph on the motorway but even that included some quick squirts upto 100 and back to 70 when passing coaches doing 60 in the outside lane.
would have to have a wedge under the throttle to get me close to 30mpg

Or get a switchable map with 'eco' mode to prevent any high boost excursions ;-)

I have to admit - I have of late been getting 34.1 on motorways when I havent been hammering it - sticking between 80-90 to keep the missus happy - and around town I can manage about 28, or at least the upper levels of the 20's with the odd 'bursts' thrown in. I must admit I am becoming a little compulsive about how high I can get the MPG to..............

Can motronic be done with switchable maps? Only thing that comes in mind is manual boost controller or switchable chips.

Switchable chipsets available NOW folks - for AAN, ABY & ADU immediately and just need final blessing on a minor 3B tweak to get those into production mode... Handful of Beta runners dotted around UK already. Its a hands-on ECU mod by myself - not 'chips only' as a few (reversable) tweaks on the PCB are needed to be done.

Switchable ECU is £350 with a setup that contains factory mode + sport mode (my "N-Stream" or "V-Stream" as you prefer) + eco mode (active boost disabled). Note for 3B owners that price INCLUDES a 2.5bar MAP sensor so it is especially good value there.

I provide flying leads out of the ECU which can be easily hooked up to a pair of low spec SPST switches which you provide and fit wherever. One switch enables 'sport mode' and the other switch enables 'eco mode'... ECO mode overrides normal or sport mode. Switches open/disconnected gives stock factory mode.

Switching can be done on the fly - works like a charm

Price to upgrade existing N-Stream users to switchable ECU (N+V+ECO) is £150.

Pls send PMs if interested so as not to clag up this thread.
