I made a call to AAS, and roughly a price for a 100/200 cell cat is 200GBP + about 200-300GBP for labour.
However they do not recommend 100 cell as they might not pass MOT... So im thinking that im fine with my 200 cell cats at the moment

Cat warranty's are usually a PITA. A bit like cambelt failures, there is always something else that has caused it.
Only problem/issue you might have getting your dosh back is that you have removed and beaten up all the contents of the cats. I did this for a customer once and they refused warranty as it had been tampered with!
But, at least the car is running sweetly. And yes no cats makes such a big difference. 100 cell race cat wont affect the current noise/performance very much at all.Leave a comment:

She's running like a dream Andy. Smooth and 'very' responsive to the throttle now. Give her some beans and she's whipping round to 1.4/1.5 bar and pulling like a freight train
I was messing yesterday with the old and seemingly original fuel pump (VDO) and am now convinced that the momentary engine cut, non starts and complete engine stalling, was down to this. Had it clamped in my vice and was messing around applying 12v to it, sometimes it ran, sometimes it ran but slowly, others it would stop or not even start.
It wasn't even that noisy really, which I've had in the past with previous Audi's as being a sign of it getting tired.
The new Bosch pump I can hardly hear and it's never cut out since changing it, although I did also change the hall sender, crankshaft position sensor and the engine speed sensor on the same day, so I'll never really now 100%.
Still, although I spent a fair old wad on new stuff I didn't 'really' need, I'm not too fussed cos having a well sorted S2 more than makes up for it

Yeah guys, I'm happy with that.
I'm no short/bad tempered hothead, as most who know me well will tell you, but really had to reel in my temper and try and stay calm-ish. I think that reflected in the result.
Too right Tom, cheap nasty crap that has no place on an S2. WTF was I thinking?Look like cheap nasty cats. They are bringing out a new EU legislation this month about the quality of replacement cats. They will have to meet a quality std so hopefully this junk wont be for sale much longer
Well we all make mistakes, but to lie about it all is just not on! Glad the garage played ball with you and offered you some 'compo'. There is nothing worse than asking somebody to do a job and then them not doing it. even worse when they charge you hard earned dosh for it to.
. Lesson learnt BIG style
I've had an email reply from the company where I bought them, they are just a reseller but have stated that they require the old to be able to go further and refund me. They were pretty shocked at the pictures though.
I can't as yet send them back, cos they are still on the car just empty and acting as decats.
On that note, Fup me
what a difference to the way in which the turbo reacts in spool time. Even remembering from running just normal OEM cats, the spool time has reduced by 400rpm easy and the zorst sounds sooo much more aggressive now.
Cheers chaps

Seems like a fair result, although nothing makes up for blood sweat and tears does it?
(Apart from a good blat in the S2
)

I think thats a fair result mate. He the mech fooked up, now he's getting rogered. You got your money back plus a beer on top (obviously doesnt compnesate for the cost of all the bits you bought to try) but at least theyre done now. You made your point and hopefully the owner will take it on board and the mech will think before trying it on next time

Hehe. Just come back from the tosspot garage.

Had a right old war of words with him. I assumed he was the owner of the place, but he wasn't. After arguing for 10 minutes where he tried to tell me the cats must have broken down in two days
and quote "my siemens injection management" was probably at fault for this
, the woman in the office area must have heard the commotion and rang the real owner, who just turned out to be her son.
He turned up 10 minutes later and tried to reassure me that going to trading standards, VOSA (MOT garage too) and my local papers wasn't needed.
I didn't "demand" any more than I paid them, just asking for my money back, although telling them I'd never recommend them to any other Audi owner EVER, and I would have walked away with this.
He offered me my £46 back + another hours labour minus it's VAT after seeing the photos I took on my mobile (which you see above).
I accepted that (£86) and told the owner to bring this other
into line before someone really does make a complaint a legal issue.
As I walked back to the car, I heard him shout at the loser, "Get in that F*CKING OFFICE NOW!!!!
Result I think........or should I have held out for more?Leave a comment:
