I cannot take the credit for suggesting this...it was steve with the 90 from the east mid's meet that hinted a while back...

for those who might be interested....at the end of the FPR is a fine mesh filter that is usually secured to the rest of the FPR..on mine it was loose and would spin...hence the very bizarre overfueling then cutting out.....but so chuffed we sorted it....

Thanks to the forum for your help...especially Brian and Steve...and the rest of you...don't want to clog this thread up with an oscar style speech...

and yeah martyn..it does need the "Dest" treatment...

That is overboost protection, a dodgy FPR wouldnt cause that to happen, it would cause excessive black smoke tho, EXTREMELY rare for these to fail.

    Anyway, glad its sorted.

He spent the morning up here yesterday
after several changes of components we tried 2 other ecu's, changed the maf, boost leak tested. Re-cleaned the pcv system and tried it on a test run after every change. Finally we swapped the fuel pressure regulator and bob's your uncle. No more smoke, pulls real well, and no more smacking your head on the dash when it cuts the power.

Why don't you change the fuel pressure regulator....

I'm sure that will cure the problem

p.s. Dont cover yourself in pressurised fuel.... It stings your eye's

Why go to MRC when AV Performance is just down the road (and I have mentioned this before.. you've even met the guy!)?

I have thought about a trip to doug and get a health check..but its a bit of a trek now I am back in notts all the time....why didn't this happen when MRC was half an hour away....

thanks for the opinions to my potential hp increase.....I am always interested in people's opinions/BTDTs/tips etc..so keep them coming...

as for the loan MAF peter, I have been offered one from Ben aka shark90....but thanks again....

one other thing with my issues...it appears not to be a overboost kicking in it is one sharp lurch then off again.....and I think I mentioned, it happens at anytime, anywhere at any given boost pressue....(sounds a bit like the martini girl, eh?!?!?...)
so got to be something controlling the fuel/air....and I can hear the told you so about the MAF.....I will hopefully have a positive result at the weekend...

Looks like you got a real bargain there then as the turbo alone is worth almost a grand. What manifold did it come with? and was the head gas flowed / ported?
