    Strange ECU behaviour....

Am running S2Central Switchable ECU which is amazing, drove to work the other day, end of the day got back in wouldn’t start. I have a Clifford Concept 50 Cat1 (never had problems with it) Alarm/Immob appeared to be working OK as when de-activated the ignition lights came on and it turned over (they are the 2 channels it disables). It was getting fuel as the exhaust stunk. Left it at work in the garage and came in this morning armed with a spare ECU, POS's and my Laptop with Vagcom on. Plugged in and not able to link to the ECU, so not able to get any codes. Still won’t start. Thought OK maybe an ECU fault. Unplugged the battery to change ECU and alarm sounded so re-connected it. I then gave it a try and it started. Vagcom then worked too.

    VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-S

    Control Module Part Number: 895 907 551 A
    Component and/or Version: 2.2l R5 MOTR.RHV HS D02
    Software Coding: PMC 1
    Work Shop Code:
    2 Faults Found:
00543 - Maximum Engine Speed Exceeded (Engine Warranty VOID! :-)
    06-10 - Signal too High - Intermittent
00513 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs
    03-00 - Please Register/Activate

Any ideas anyone, why would the ECU trip out and a simple battery re-connect sort it!!??

    Thanks..........

I know that disconecting the battery resets the ECU, but was under the impression that one needs to leave it disconected for at least an hour. The main thing is your car is functioning again. Not sure what those faults mean, I'm someone on here does though.
