    Just a quick thank-you...

To Mihnea, Doug, Chris and Simon (Doug's mate) for getting their hands mucky on my car at the weekend! Doug - cheers for your hospitality mate, and the ride in your slightly tweaked motor.

Still knackered after driving back, and now time to go to work Biggest problem I had on the way home was low flying boost gauges - as soon as it reached max boost it spat the gauge off the pipe and onto the floor, which was a bit distracting! (Need a decent clip...)

I did get flashed by a Gatso BUT it was pointing the other way, I was doing 64mph ish on the clock (58 ish real speed) and the car in front was a Jeep Cherokee doing about 70mph - maybe it was tall enough to set it off. *shrug* We'll see if anything comes in the post - road markings were on both sides..

Looking forward the car will need remapping again with a stiffer wastegate spring but it's definitely faster than it was, and seemingly better on fuel too! I measured the avg mpg to the trip meter on the speedo and it was completely accurate even to the change of numbers (27.4mpg on way up). On way down the tank range went as high as 505 miles, but I only managed to take a photo of it after it had dropped slightly (to 495) - I'll take a look and see if it turns out.

Other than that, I'm shattered and will line the downpipe-> back pipe up better today to make sure no leaks. Will also buy another lambda probe and get on with my 'intercooler spray kit' mod Halfords here we come!

Short shifter can wait for now, but it felt fantastic in Doug's car. Hmmm. Might do that first...

Heh, on another note - so much for the heat shield paint, eh? Bloomin pipe was red hot after saturdays runs! (As were the brakes. Cooked em on way back too) Me n my crazy schemes... doh!

    Cheers guys!

Can't be sure on the paint mate but the outside of the pipe, which had been painted, was hot after a run, so I don't know if it's worth bothering. Resistant to 425 deg c my ****. Bring on the tin foil.

Been to Maplins today to get the proximity switch I need for my intercooler spray mod

More on that if I can get the fooka working ...

I have only just stopped now! I am knackered. Too much drink and too little sleep.

Glad your car is running well now Paul.

Have to say you guys were a good laugh at the weekend.

I have to reply to a few texts but my phone has ran out of credit!

I think I am upto £250 spent on petrol in under a week and it is empty again!

          Any joy with Simons' car?

About bloomin time yours got washed too mate!

I can't figure out if it's my brakes that are making a hollow sound resonance style noise at 1500 rpm, or the exhaust. The exhaust was my first thought, but it's not every time, and usually after braking. I wonder if it's the pads I put back in the wrong side, maybe? I know yours are noisy, but wasn't it more of a squeak noise than a droning like mine is. Needing to find time to check it out, but you know how it is

          Anyway, a couple o snaps:

This is what happens when you are driving along and you boot it, and the Boost gauge reads as near as dammit 2 bar, and spits off in your face.

Gave up in the end with it - chucked in corner of screen (reads better than what I described before )

And a fair bit of slow moving traffic caused this to go up to 505, but my cameraman (who umm took all the pictures) wasn't quick enough. *cough*

They spent all day Sunday with Simons car only to find that emulator was the cause of a lot of problems - then the fuel filter was replaced this morning and it all started to work a lot better but time ran out and Mihnea had to go home. It is running some of Mihneas maps just now but needs more work.

My car has not been washed yet!

I need to some work on the AP Brakes - I have a grinding noise after the brakes are warmed up - but it is only when you remove pressure from the brakes it does it - it is really pissing me off but I will take them all to bits and replace the master brake cylinder at the same time - I din't want to scare any of you but my pedal will go to the floor Just as well I wasn't driving fast!

I changed my thermostat but I am sure it is not working correctly. It must still be an air lock or something - I am positive with a correctly working thermostat and properly bled I had the water temp gauge hit 90 deg C and stay there no matter what - mine drops while cruising on the motorway!

I also got my ticking tappets, after a thrash, noise sorted - I just topped my oil upto the max level - it was always sitting at halfway upto that point. I think I will still change it to RS - I had Mobil 1 15W50 and I am not impressed - I only had it as I was desperate for oil!

Everything will be sorted for Billing though.

                  tsch! Shame on you...

The noise goes when I press the brakes. Need to take the wheel off again anyway - will clean everything up. Yes, lucky you weren't driving fast Doug. At one point when the old woman and her zimmer frame passed us, I wondered if we were going backwards... yeah, right...

The modern audis/golfs hit 90 and stay there, no matter how you cane 'em, in my experience - maybe you've hit upon a new, efficient, cooling method? I did wonder what you were doing with those ice cubes in the water reservoir though.

Yup. When my oil changes from light to darker brown will do mine too. It's on 'the list'

Everything will be sorted for Billing though.
Here's hoping - you've been through all the crap stuff. Now it's time to enjoy it! When you can afford some more petrol...

My grinding noise goes if I press lightly on the brakes as well. I noticed tonight my discs are shiny right out to the edge so I am wondering if my pads are hanging over the outer lip and when the disc/pads get hot they are grinding on the outer lip. Maybe the DS2500 have more material than mintex pads I had on before.

I'll soon find out I suppose.

I think Chris is now aiming for the wrong side of 400bhp - the weekend will be expensive for him.

@ Doug, I've replaced the thermostat on mine recently but the water temp doesnt stay at 90. On the motorway temp drops down a notch or two.
Its always been like this since I bought the car.
