    Drysump starter kit available!

Finally after a long time designing and fabricating the drysump kit is finished for my Sport Quattro. During the R&D time i've received a lot of questions if this kit will be for sale also. Well yes it will be, as long as there is a small group to manufacture it for. My drysump setup contains the following parts.

    * Bracket (CNC machined) for a Small block chevy drysump pump. I've used a pump from Weaver/SCP with 5 stages.

    * Blanking plate to remove the old oil pump and mount this plate on to. It's also CNC machined and accepts the original oil seal. I'm using AN12 fittings for this.

    * Blanking plate to remove the oilfilter housing. Also CNC machined. I'm using a remote filter housing.

    * Blanking plate to blank of the crank ventilation

    * Oil pan, CNC machined flange, with welded pan. It is possible to make a full billet machined oil pan aswell :mischeif:

    * Drive wheel with Gilmer toothing and belt made to fit the OEM audi timing belt cog.

    * excentric belt tensioner, CNC machined

All machined parts are anodised in either black or natural finish.

You will also need a 10V gearbox to engine adapter. I'll shoot a photo of that later on. This adapter will be a bolt on piece that mounts the engine to the gearbox, and closes the gaping hole to the flywheel. On the S2 this is integrated in the oilpan. But since it's no longer there....

This kit allows you to complete your own drysump setup. So you can choose your own pump and further plumbing setup to suit your specific application. Mind that converting your car to a drysump system is not a small modification to do during a cuppa tea on a sunday morning. You will need to manufacture shed loads of other small bits and modify loads of other stuff around your engine bay. But this kit will get you in the right direction. Pricing is difficult at the moment, really depends on how many people would sign up for it. But to give you an idea it will cost around 800 euro's. Pricing can go up or down depending on how many kits. It will not have any warranty on the parts or the result of damage through failure of any of these parts.
Shoot me an email if you are interested. Jeffry (at) highoctane.nl
    Cheers!

Add screens to scavenge lines to protect pump. Otherwise looks good.

Since You seem to have four scavenges from the sump pan, You will have a lot of air in the return oil from scavenges to tank. I strongly recommend using -16 line for that.

So I am a noob when it comes to dry sump systems - how does this affect the traditional ventilation system for the crankcase (if at all) ?

Paul, you cn bin all the cranck ventilation hoses. Only if the drysump pump is big enough. The pump creates vacume in het cranckcase, and all fumes are sucked away through the scavanging stages and end up in the oiltank. There the aerated oil flowes down along the walls of the tank to allow the air to escape. Now the Cranckcase fumes exit at the top of the tank.

on a well thought out setup too many manufacturers don't keep in mind size of pump relative to engine trying to undercut competitors with small three stage pumps, end result being that you need to run the standard breather system instead of a sealed system otherwise you can kiss your turbo seals goodbye.

Where do you feed the pressurised oil back in to the engine ion th I5?

                          BTW looks good.
Probably the longet S2 project in history EVER!
