Chatter on boost? Quick one i promise....

Hi guys, just looking for a little help. Ive yet to get stuck into the engine, just getting used to her and how she feels, but ive noticed that althogh she feels quick, shes not wow quick and the thing im asking about, is, when on full tilt, you get like a wastegate chatter, albeit quiter. then if you lift off, you get loud chatter.

Does the chatter on bosst mean the wastegate isnt holding pressure?

Sounds like the diaphram in the TBV (dump valve if you like) is split.
Not hard to check. Take out your drivers side headlamp and remove it to check (noting it's orientation) They aren't a great deal of money to replace, around £25/£30 for a slightly better S3/TT225 (06A 145 710N) version or you could get a forge type valve instead (more money though).

HMMMMMMM do these plastic ones come to bits for checking or are you just best replacing anyways?

Best to replace it with a 710N, its cheap enough and easy enough to do.

cheers dest, just seemed a little weird that it was lightly chattering under boost, sometime you plant it and she off, and other she fairly mil mannered. guess ill start the process of dv, mark h mod, check for leaks etc etc
