2111 (Blink Fault Code), 00513 VAG1551/2 Fault Code Number
    RPM sensor (G28)
Open or short circuit, sensor malfunction
Defective sensor & cables, metal fragments on flywheel teeth
Symptom: Engine will not start, misfires, may stop running
NOTE: I have seen this fault code occur after cranking the engine during a no start condition
in a few rare cases where there was nothing wrong with the RPM sensor

One thing i've learned we are way behind the Scandinavians!

ECU needs good signal from G4, G40 and G28 to start.

G28 is the RPM sensor - you need an oscilloscope to view the signal of course, but could just be some metal fragments or a bad contact on the sensor - remove it clean it.

Check resistance of both G4 and G28 - see if they are same - very rough test but might show something.

If its the hall sensor you could always try the cold water down the back of the cam sprocket trick. Never tried it but have heard of it working temporarily.

I think I am right in saying that the G28 and G4? are the same sensors but different plugs, you could always try swapping them (at both ends) to see if the fault code swaps to the G4...

Yes G4 and G28 are the same part - an inductive sensor - same spec - only difference is that G4 has a black plug and G28 has a grey plug...

Position of where they sit near the flywheel determines whether they pickup the crank reference pin (G4) or flywheel teeth (G28).

The ECU is clever enough to work around some broken flywheel teeth, but I dunno how many need to be missing before it cries foul.

              .
It only works when the sensor gets hot, if the car hasn't been starting from cold the hall sensor has gone

BTDT on my Coupe, pull up for petrol and damn car wouldn't start after filling up
