Horrible Pinking!!!!!!

Head bolts ordered.......'main dealer' got them for £3.75 each.. retail at £7.25 each
Will be making a start tonight.....hope all goes well?????

Heads off!!!! to find the headgasket has gone between 4 and 5 and has started to go between 2 and 3.
Found the exhaust manifold has a small crack but nothing too serious,so that will be repaired before refit.
Head is off tomoz to our local engineering shop for a skim and new seals.

Heads back from the machine shop after a de coke,skim,valve stem oil seals and the valves seated.
cracked exhaust manifold is the only hold up....
all gaskets replaced with o.e parts.
Spent hours tonight cleaning the engine bay...but well worth the effort i think?
pics of blown gasket and a few other bits and pieces including my little helper who to be honest is'nt all that helpful?

Well done! Im glad your getting this sorted out now.

Shame im in France atm or i would have popped down from Totnes to give you a hand.

If the cracked EM is not to bad then i would just leave it. I had a fairly badly cracked RS2 EM that was 'repaired' so to speak, cost me an arm and a leg and by the time the mani warmed up again on its first run it was already blowing again from almost all the welds...

174000 km........no wear on the pots at all.Had no temp issues surprisingly? just lots of pinking and a small knocking noise on pick up.
looking at a cast manifold on e bay at the mo....
Back out to the workshop now for a late one i think? lots more cleaning to do...that will defo upset her indoors!!!!!!

Hooray!!!!! all running and sounding great.No more knocking and pinking.All went together really well and the new manifold is sound good.I feel quite pleased with myself i have to say.

Having the same issues on only 95000miles any chance faulty coils could have caused
gasket failure.
