S2 Avant Fuel issues

Hi all,

After using the car all weekend and to get to work this morning without any problems.
I returned to the car after work today to find the fuel light on?When i got out of the car this morning the car definately had 1/4 of a tank???
So i pottered home with the fuel light on and the 'E' symbol showing.
I've checked for fuel leaks no visable signs or smells under the car or under the bonnet?
Could this possibly be an electrical fault i,e. Relay or maybe a fuse.??

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
