    Lambda sensor issues?

When the car was last checked for faults, it came up with intermittant lambda sensor signal, but the car appreared to be running ok, so i left it alone.

Recently rebuilt the engine after a head gasket problem (water in cylinder 5) and since the MPG is significantly worse (200-230 per tank) used to do (250-300 per tank) and ive been getting running problems when sat in traffic, for example, driving normally 70-80mph on the M25 then hitting some traffic, within a minute the car starts to run lumpy and if you try to pull away can either bog down to the point of sometimes stalling or be quiet hessitant, feeling like its over fueling?

could any of this be caused by a faulty lambda sensor? or any other ideas?

What is the color on the spark-plugs?

One thing i've learned we are way behind the Scandinavians!

The symptoms described could be down to lambda or MAF amongst others. Was it your car that failed the MOT on idle? If you've not changed the lambda then get a new one, they're on'y £50 for a Beru from QC or about £80 for a Bosch item.

        sounds likely lambda.

mine did similar recenttly. i put it down to an electrical gremlin.

have you tried having the battery off for a few hours.

check your throttle cable is engaging the idle switch every time in the same amount of time. cable needs to be not too tight.

wasnt mine that failed the MOT, ive got a new genuine VW lambda, tried to fit it today, the old one was seized in the DP, left most of the thread in the DP, got to get a tap to chase out the tread tomorrow, im pretty sure its not the MAF as i fitted another one today and its the same....

Hi, sorry to bring up an old thread,

Was this ever solved, did the new sensor cure the problem

I am having exactly the same symptoms/code.

              Regards Biggs
