crankshaft timing pulley gear / wheel key sheared - any alternative parts ??

    Hi all,

The key sheared on mine 200km into a trip across Spain (after a cam belt replacement) I´m back at my home garage,
and they are having trouble getting one quickly - is there an alternative part that can be used from other Audi / vw´s ??

I think its the one mentioned in this post here - http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthr...ght=crankshaft

    PART NO. 034105263A ??

    any help gratefully recieved as I´m trying to get to my ferry in Bibao . . . . . . . . . .

    cheers !!

If the key is broken and allowed the pulley to spin, I am afraid you will have bent the valves and a new pulley wont fix it, you will need to replace the valves ,which means taking the head of. I sincerely hope I am wrong and that it hasn't spun.

the key is a standard engineering item, normally come in 5mm/6mm/8mm widths, so readily available from most engineering/trade outlets.
      Good luck...

Key way is normally broken when fitting the pulley without locking tool, the Key way is only for locating there no strength in it. The 450nm is what holds the pulley

That is the correct PN. It is common to Audi I5's all the way back to 1982.

You will also need a new crank bolt, PN N 010 143 2
