Another update, I cleaned the MAF plug with Isopropyl. I unplugged the MAF, took the car for a drive and it still cut out. I checked the 3 earths around the head and they were all fine. I checked the spark plugs, one (number 2) was a quarter of a turn loose. I then took the car for a drive and the cutting out still happens

Next step would be the ignition switch I guess. I cant think of any other tests that I dont have to buy parts for?
A question, if its the ignition switch would the dash lights come on when it cuts out? The reason I ask is because my dash lights dont come on when it cuts out.

What way do I access the ignition switch, under the dash or do I have to take the instruments out?
Any idea how long the job takes?

10 minute job... unscrew the parcel shelf above drivers pedals - 4 x 8mm screws - then you can see the ignition switch and its wiring plug. Pop off the plug and swap over the switch. Easy.

I changed the plug yesterday in the RS2, took the car for a 50km trip and it ran fine, will have to wait another few days to confirm the car is fine though.

Here is a pic of the old and new plug:

The old plug doesnt seem to be in to bad condition. No cracks just a bit of wear.

At the Audi dealership you need to provide your VIN number so they know if you need the plug ending with a "B" or a "C", my RS2 had the "C" plug.
Also to change the plug I needed to take the dash cluster out to access two screws that holds the switch to the barrel. Like in this link for the C4 S4/S6:

im getting misfires as well... will have to check that switch in the end to make sure it isnt going. It has been replaced failry soon however..

on the other hand, mine still does it on high boost and only if i go WOT fast. So i have to check various things before going for the ignition switch.

i have to check the altenator voltage on high boost as well, as if the alt. is going bad, it could be messing with the coils firing.

i will check for coil cables being intact again as well.

in VEMS settings are correct,so i will check the battery voltaget under boost to make sure it isnt a problem.

Finally i will make sure this isnt a overly rich mixture causing the issue pretending it is a missfire(as it shouldnt, because the tables have not been tampered and everything was working properly)

checked everything and replaced the coil pipes only. misfire has gone now.But i am not sure if that was 100% the source of the problem as the pipes seem quite ok. it may have been a bad batch of fuel as well.

4 months on, no problems until today! The car started cutting out again.
What do you think? Should I buy another plug? The last plug shouldnt have ******ed out in 4 months surely?
