Vacuum question regarding the carbon canister.

So i'm n the process of swapping my AAN/ABY engine into my early 7A coupe, I had asked a question about the blue pvc valve and was curious if i could just run a hose from the stock cq location to the back of the aby manifold. pictures for those of us who need visuals.

blue valve is on the right side of the photo near the coolant reserve:



and would be going to the tube under the throttle body:



Any problems just running a hose? or should i be moving he valve closer to the intake?

I cannot see an issue since the vacuum will still be the same as long as the cable reaches

Thanks, the only other reason i ask is because i know now thanks to Tom, that the aby s2 and rs2 have it there and it intersects with that crank case breather....
