im putting the original 3b flywheel from the car onto a diffrent crank do i need to get them balanced or are the both balanced to 0 indevidually?
the reason im fitting a diffrent crank is because the original one was cracked due to bearing faliure.
put rods in the rest will hold. 400 is not that much. pay attention to the fueling side. pump, injectors remap or standalone.
getting a turbo an manifold to do that is just a matter of £ or € rather. this is the cheap bit. the new exhaust at 3" will cost as much.standard inlet is fine, intercooler is around maxed there.
If your building a new engine for 400 bhp, why risk loosing the whole lot due to potential component failure?!
If you're going to do it, do it properly. Get the crank crack tested, bearing journals checked and polished and then get the whole lot balanced. Will cost a few bob more, but at least you have peace of mind that it's all checked and healthy.
the crank has been cracktested and jornals polished. bores on the block have been honed, got forged h beam rods and forged pistons as i might want more power in future. i am building it prperly no cut corners
just want to know if engine will be out of balance due to changeing the crank?

if you are going this far then balance it with clutch plate and front pully also included
As said, balance it! I've changed the single mass flywheel - zero balanced with clutch - onto my stock ABY engine and it's OK but I can tell it's not as smooth revving as my old engine, which had forged internals and was fully balanced. Cost £150 and worth every penny.
