    Electrical: Engine wiring

    I have a small problem with a 3b engine we've put into a typ85 CQ.
After we had switched the wiring loom and connected most of it on the engine aswell as in the fusebox, we found a plug that we didn't find in the wiring scheme.

It's a 1-pin contact with two wires. One green, the other one green with a black stripe. The engine is from a 92' S2 if that makes a difference.

Edit: Oh, and it's supposed to be connected somewhere in the fusebox.

mmmmm - I can't see it either, but you cannot trust the wire colours on schematics 100% in my experience. There are two black/green wires shown as feeds into S24/28 from the fuel pump - have you got those ?

    Been here already - http://www.s2central.net/S2_Schematics/ ?

I've never had a 3B loom on the bench to demystify. Suspect that you might have to retrace your steps and confirm which connections you did make at the fusebox - then by a process of elimination find out which is missing.

Nope, I've used the schematics I've got from VAG. They should be the same.
Guess this is gonna take a whole lot more time than I expected. Nothing new there

          wire colours from memory ?

impressive and dangerous all at the same time - brilliant - clearly he's doing too many engine swaps.

I think if it's the one I am thinking about It has a white plug and should be fitted into 87a in the fusebox. It may be easier to upload a pic to confirm.

87a is the green/black reference I mentioned as well... See if it buzzes out to fuses 24 & 28. See tracks 15/16 on here -->

                    It's a black plug.
Trouble is, I already have a plug in the 87a slot. Are there more than one slot?

I might have to take some pics, yeah

Okay, back with pictures. Even more confused though.

                          L30 ATM

                          L30 has 3x Single red and 1x red+red/black

                          87A had a Red/black in it aswell

The Plug(green+green/black) mentioned before is too small to be fitted to L30.

                          I found another wire!

                          It's a single blue/red that someone has marked 87A

I moved the red/black from 87A to L30. That leaves me with Green+Green/Black and Blue/red.

Firstly - I highly recommend you get rid of that 'scotchlok' connector - looks like its in a hefty cable. These things are OK for emergency / temporarry wiring, but just not robust or safe enough for long term use in my opinion. I'll look at the wiring again to help solve the puzzle.

                              With reference to - http://www.s2central.net/S2_Schematics/D/D34.PDF

My bet is the red/black should be for M30ac - tracks 102 & 103 - do you have something there ?

                              I'd be fairly sure that the green/black with green is 87a - tracks 15 & 16 - buzz them out to fuses S24 & S28 to check.

As to red/blue, only thing I can see alone in that colour is fused side of S24 - track 15.
