Well it wasn't as if I didn't see it coming. Had to resort to pouring some water down
the back of the cam belt cover a couple of months ago to get started one day.
Car behaved normally after that and as I'd not got any fault codes at the time I
decided to see how my luck would hold...
So, as of a couple of weeks ago I have now had my first ride home with my
car on the back of a flatbed.
Cam position sensor confirmed as guilty next day after I pulled the codes.
Ordered up a new one and started pulling bits off the front of my car.
Decided to leave the cambelt on as per many other posts on the forum.

Closer look at the offending little fecker.

Homemade tool to hold the cam when tightening up the bolt.

I guess there's a good chance it was the original sensor I replaced so if this
one lasts as long it should be good for another 15 years and 150,000 miles.
Started instantly on first turn of the key.
All good except now I sometimes need to use the throttle to help start the car
and get fault code 0532
Fault code 00532
Supply Voltage, B+
- Signal too high
- Signal too low
Supply voltage (B+) into J220 exceeds 16 volts
Faulty alternator
Poor ground at J220
Flat battery
Engine does not start and/or crank
Erratic idle
Check electrical connections
Check voltage supply at battery AND alternator
Check J220
Getting 14.2v at the alternator and 14.1v at the battery with the engine running.
Engine off the battery holds about 12.8v max and starts the car no problem.
Once the battery drops down below about 12.4v then I need to use the throttle
to help start it and I get the 0532 fault code
According to the paperwork I've
got for the car the battery is reasonably new but I guess it could still be the problem?
Can any one tell me how low the voltage on the battery needs to be for 0532
fault code to register?
I think first thing I'll do is try the battery from my ur as I know it's in good condion.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Grant
