034MS kevlar Timing belt for il5

I just read on Motorgeek that 034MS are producing a re-enforced timing belt for our cars, which will be on sale very soon. This might be good news for al of us and especially for those who now have to undergo all the trouble of putting in a wide timing belt, because of their monster torque engines where the OEM belt stretches a lot.

They just started offering a version for the 1.8T engine (introduction price $129.99), but an il5 version is in the makes:

            Oh, me?

Waste of money if You ask me. We have original 19mm belt in the rs. Never had issue with timing belt. Revved her hundreds of times to 9500 rpm level and dozens of times to 9900.

Actually stretching is not an issue that messes the cam timing, but the play between the cam pulley and water pump, and it causes the cams to go more in advance, instead of leaving behind.

No need for reinforced belts.. you aren't taking more power from the belt.

I don't understand this, no more power goes through the belt if you make 200hp or 1000 hp the only reason the belt would take more stress is if you used stronger valve springs and or a high lift cam, but even then i do no believe the belt would not cope, i once used an old timing belt as part of a tow rope to tow a heavy car they are very strong and reinforced as standard.

So is Flat on my back and a few of Aelreds builds run wider belts on the S2 on modified cars.

Popular mod in Scandinavia as well

                            25mm thankyou...

Running it for peace of mind really...oh...and just in case i go stupid in the power race...

Standard belts have proven very reliable.

P.S. my 25mm belt is an oem part.
