    wastegate adjustment

my s2 avant has an mtm remap and i assume at the same time they adjusted the wastegate (cap removed to reveal the 6mm allen key screw) if i want to increase the boost presumably i wind the screw in? Is this right? Can it be screwed to far? What happens if i do screw it to far. I assume its just pre-loading the wastegate spring?

by tightening the screw, you are going to see higher boost on all revs(overboost and steady boost). This depends on what the remap allows to have. If the map has a boost cut above certain kpa value and you reach that, then you will cut out.

if you wind up the spring too much then you will get a high overboost and perhaps a cut,as well as quite high steady boost as well.To check this you can disconnect the N75 valve and see what mechanical boost you are getting.

The biggest problem is that you may increase the boost, but may not have the fuel to compensate, and therefore get leaner on high revs and cause a potentially big problem

buy a AFR gauge with a wideband sensor and test all as you want

Why do you want to touch it? If you're not having it remapped to suit then it'll run a bit off colour, had this when I was playing a few months ago.

If it's a stock WG cap the you have between 15 and 20mm of adjustment from the screw level with the top of the cap to the screw runningout of thread. I'd not go to more than 15mm depth from cap top to screw head top. On a stock spring it'll make very little difference. Note that it also only adjust initial spool and WG cracking pressure, not the boost run by the ECU unless the spring is stiff enough to exceede the ECU boost. If it's all working well then just leave it, if you're going to RS2 then be careful as stock rods and an RS2 turbo = bananas

I can see your thought pattern here from this thread and your earlier one here.

and search the forums. The answers are there, not in the WG screw.
