    Water Light Comes on

If I go out and have a drive and got it some welly - all is good.
The next time I go to start the car the Water Light comes on and I have to put a kettle's worth of water in to the header tank.
I see no evidence of water be it clear or coppery inside the engine bay, checking all pipes etc, and wanted to know if anyone had any ideas that I could check?

Most irritating thing is having to carry a 2lt bottle of water with me - but hey-ho - worse things etc....

check to see if your carpets are wet either side of the gearbox tunnel. Could be the heater matrix.

also check your header tank for cracks or even the cap
if it's not tight enough it will leak
also check rubber on said cap mate

I did replace the cap recently courtesy of Hoffer as the previous one spewed coppery puke all over the engine bay - this one seems to leave the engine bay clean - I am checking regularly when this happens but there is very little evidence if any. No smells from heater system and no dampness around carpets anywhere - I recently replaced the mats ( a sweet realcement URS4 set grom Germany) and there is no evidence other than 16 years of crud!). So not much to go on really.... I will keep caning it and checking it - I am supposed to be going to a rolling road today if Hoffer calls me back - that should prove investigative if not interesting or even cataclysmic!

Oh the life of a URS4 Avant Owner.

check the rubber hose that joins the thermostat-->>metal heater matrix pipe,I have been losing a small amount of water for 1 year plus and couldn't find anything.Discovered it by accident the other day while doing another job on it.
