So what fixed the smoke for you?

There have been many, many posts about “smoking” S2’s when there hot and in traffic (I know iv’e posted a few myself) however did anyone who had the problem actually solve it?

I realise there may be many causes of this problem (rings, v-seals, turbo, de-cat, oil, general wear, etc) but surely someone out there must have found a fix for their particular issue?

So what fixed the smoke for you?:-

    1) Valve Seals
    2) PCV System
    3) Head Gasket
    4) Turbo Wear
    5) Re-install Cat
    6) Oil Quality
    7) Rebuild (head/rebore/etc)
    8) Other

the only 2 issues i have had and cured are 1. Using synthetic oil, I find it to thin and causes smoke. 2. I used an exhaust off another vehicle which had running problems and had soaked the boxes in oil and fuel. Once burnt out it was all fine.

Mine went from blowing our water due to a head gasket failure, straight into blowing out oily smoke. This only happened when cold and after being stood for 3hrs or more. Turned out to be the turbo, a rebuild by AET in Wakefield had it sorted. The oil seals had begin to perish meaning was building up in there when not in use.

It's also found an extra 0.1 bar of boost (1.6 now) since its recon, which is a nice bonus...

My belt has jumped because of the belt of accessories.
result = 8 intake valves bent.
after I rebuilt the engine started from 2000 rpm to give the smoke.
may be the fault of the PCV system?
                    before the turbo was ok.
