    Mechanical/Superchipped ECU fault code question

With a S2/RS2 running a Superchip or Mechanical boost will a scan of the diagnostics via VAGCOM miss a number or faults due to the car running Mechanical boost?

Ive been having a intermit cutting out problem with my RS2 but its not showing any fault codes apart from the N75 or whatever it is that Superchips disconnect.

Here is the link or whats playing up on my car:

the vagcom should report that the N75 valve is unpluged. If it is still plugged into place but inoperative(no hoses connected to it) then it wouldnt read any faults.

Yip, it reports that the N75 is unpluged.

Plug it into the electrical harness (or install resistor) so you won't trip a fault code.
Other than that there should be no problems, unless you overboost, of course.

Mmmm - yeah - just remember that running that way is the Motronic equivalent of jumping out of a plane without a parachute.

Monster WG spring mechanically prevents the ECU from going into some safety modes in the event of detection of things like excessive knock, excessive boost detection, extreme engine temp and such.

As a general rule - the WG spring should NEVER allow the turbo to provide higher levels of boost that it or the engine can safely withstand anywhere in its operating range. Bleed valves and such methods can be used to run with very stiff springs and the user setting a 'max' boost value on a knob - this is hard enough life for a turbo, but if the bleed valve fails then it gets really bad.

I didn't think there was any 'superchipped' S2/RS2 still trundling around.

Remember that things go just as bad when (note that I say when and not if..) the N75 fails when running high boost (ie. above 1.7).
There are too many engines that have blown due to failed N75's.
Remember that pulling boost is (curiously) only the third line of defense when detecting knock, etc. First, timing is pulled, then fuel is dumped.

Well yeah - N75 isn't bullet proof and should be renewed every few years for that reason... would rather do that run with a bed spring !

                I run a 0.9bar (aka 1.9bar) spring and a Turbotech MBC.
I adjust the spring preload to a base pressure of 1 bar, then dial in 2.1 to 2.2bar with the Turbotech. In case of knock (not very likely on E85), the stealthy Turbo XS KnockLite will light up in red. (hidden behind the left vent and lights up in green when it is time to shift and in orange or red if it detects light or severe knock. Slick bit of kit). This way, I get the fastest spool, steady boost and won't have to be nervous about the WGFV blowing (the stock one did...)
